I visited the OB doc today for my usual monthly appt. All went well. She said I was measuring good. This was the first visit they actually measured me. I guess it's that there is now a big belly to measure. The baby's heartrate was around 165 due to the fact that he was bumping and jumping while she was checking it. :) He doesn't like for me to lie flat on my back and will definitely let me know it each time I do. Doc made the statement that he's probably still transverse in direction. But, that will change I'm sure. My weight came in at 152.4. I started at 145. So, please don't hate me too much if you were one of those pregnant ladies that gained like 50 lbs. It not due to lack of eating, I promise! I'm just happy I'm continuing to gain weight. I think I gained around 25 pounds with Charlie. So, we'll see what the final number is in a few months.
I'm feeling good. I've gotten some energy back. The belly is my only obstacle right now. I do still wear out relatively quickly but I can get things done now more than I could a few months ago. We've been gearing up for Charlie's birthday party that's next weekend so busy doesn't even quite cover our schedule right now. But, I'm hanging in there and resting when I need to. I've learned my limitations and push them every now and then.
We're still working on a name. We thought we had decided on one but I heard a couple of people refer to the baby by that name and it just didn't sound right. It's either going to eventually grow on me or another name will just stick. Daniel and I have been throwing a few more around but no luck. The names I like the best begin with E's and O's but who wants the initials EWW or OWW? I would settle for AWW but not the others...so the challenge continues.
As for the nursery, I have still put any decorating on hold until after Charlie's birthday weekend. I have looked at some bedding and found one I think I really like (who can really tell from a picture online?). Ideas began running through my head so get ready! :) I think I am going to have to compromise some on it though because the ideas I have will be such a headache to accomplish. Who knows...I may pull out the jigsaw and just do it myself. It would be alot of work but would be so cute. So, we'll see.
Now for the belly...I have outgrown most of my maternity clothes from when I carried Charlie. Thank goodness for hand-me-downs! However, I am about to outgrow them as well. :\ Even Daniel's tshirts are getting snug. I am all belly. There's no mistaking me being pregnant. I've figured this out not only from looking in the mirror but from the comments I get from random people walking by. Atleast I'm not getting random people rubbing my belly yet. I know it's coming though...
I go back to the doc in three weeks for my 30 week check-up. Doc mentioned that I will start the every two week visits after that. Really!?! Is it that close to d-day already? Whew! Where did the time go? One minute we're deciding when to have baby #2. The next I'm knocking on the delivery date's door! I give all the credit for that happening to a little munchkin named Charlie. There's no time to relish in any pregnancy glow when you've got a toddler running around! (I typed that sentence while telling Charlie for the 1000th time to go lay down and go to sleep!)

potty training successes...
We've had some pretty good progress in the potty training dept. I think it's finally setting in. I got pretty spoiled with the pull-ups, well, lazy more than spoiled. But, this also made Charlie backslide as well. I began the end of last week with Charlie in big boy underwear again. Charlie seems to be catching on much better than before. I don't have to coerse him as much to go to the potty and in the last couple of days, he has actually been telling me he has to go...even at home. I haven't cleaned up a puddle in a while and it's been nice. Charlie still wets his pants sometimes but he seems to realize that's bad and will stop the flow. He'll tell me "tee tee" and will finish in the potty.
I braved the outside world yesterday with Charlie in undies. We took our usual trip to Walmart and Publix. Charlie used the potty before we left and while we were in Publix. He, of course, had to get his cookie first, but then told me had needed to go. He was dry the whole trip! In my head, I had bad images of cleaning up pee but knew I had to take the maiden voyage sometime. :)
I've taken the approach of backing off and not fighting Charlie to go to the potty. I simply ask or make the request to go to the potty. If he puts up a fight, I let it go and ask again a few minutes later. He's pretty good about going when he needs to. Distractions are still an issue and probably always will be. Many times I'll ask if he needs to go to the potty and he'll say "no" but just a few minutes later, he tells me "tee tee". So if it's just planting the idea in his head so that he realizes he needs to go, then I call that success!
I've also learned Charlie's "pee pee dance". It's the usual rocking back and forth on his feet but I've mastered recognizing it. I've even seen the knees cross a couple of times. Poor thing. It can get pretty funny though to watch.

A few weeks ago, on a Saturday, Charlie decided he wanted to stand up to tee tee. Who was I to object? It took a couple of days for him to get the hang of it but now he is a pro.
No progress in the poo poo dept. but I'm taking pride in how far we've come. It's been a tough battle. You wouldn't know it from his success chart though! I think it's time for a new one...

picnic lunch
Yesterday, Charlie and I enjoyed some time in the backyard. He played and played. I sat and watched. :) Charlie even had an encounter with a caterpillar. He wasn't amused. He enjoyed watching it crawl all over my hand but would touch it if his life depended on it.
I didn't want to fight the battle of getting him inside to eat lunch so we just had a picnic lunch outside...

our weekly Walmart trip
"Go see Elmo? Police car? Dance?" These are the words I hear over and over the minute we walk into Walmart each week. I loathe the place but this is one of the highlights of Charlie's week. He always looks for the bikes. He wants to go by the TV's. We must see the pictures of the babies in the infant/toddler section. The list goes on. I did, however, want to capture the main three on video. So, without further adieu...Elmo. Police car. Dance.

Cagle's Dairy Farm
Last week, on Tuesday, a friend of mine invited a bunch of people from Charlie's school and other of her friends to visit Cagle's Dairy Farm. I was a little hesitant to go since I didn't really know anyone other than Joy, the coordinator. She had said to invite whomever so I invited a friend of mine, Becky, and her kids. They were able to go so off for an adventure we went. I knew Charlie enjoyed cows so I thought he would enjoy the trip but was a little hesitant at the same time.
When we got there, the first thing Charlie spotted was the little tractor and tricycle so that was his first stop. Alex joined him. It was hard to get him off to go on the tour though. The tour started with a hayride through the farm. We saw all the barns and facilities they use to raise and feed the cows. They aren't currently processing milk at the farm right now so it looked a little rundown. We got out to the pasture where the cows were and Charlie got excited to see the cows. They did a herding demonstration with one of the herding dogs and the cows came right up to the wagon we were on.
We then got off to feed the goats. I was fully expecting Charlie to cry and whine as I tried to get him to feed the goats. But, he surprised me and walked right up to the fence where the goats were and put out his hand! My jaw dropped open but I was so excited to see this! Here's a little video I got of him feeding the goats...
The next stop was the calf barn. They had little cows in pens for the kids to interact with. We were able to feed them as well. Charlie was a little hesitant at first just because there wasn't much of a fence between him and the calf. I just showed him how to feed the cow and off he went. He wouldn't get close to them except to feed them. I tried to get a picture of him with the cow but he just wouldn't scoot back so I got what I could.
There were also pens with baby ducks in one and baby chickens in the other. This excited Charlie more than anything. He just kept going back and forth between the two and saying, "cucks" and "chippens".
The milking process was next. There was a demonstration spot for the kids to learn about this. Charlie could have cared less. He just kept asking to ride the bicycles. This was my spot, however, to sit for a few minutes. :\
We then got to see the processing center where they pasteurize and put the milk into jugs. As I mentioned, they are not currently processing milk at this location so we got to watch the machine fill a couple of jugs with water and cap them.
Then came the ice cream! The farm gave each child and adult their choice of chocolate or vanilla ice cream. We sat and ate lunch and, of course, Charlie then had to ride the little tractor and tricycle again.
Other than the snake climbing up into our lunch table...our trip was alot of fun! Well, it was kinda funny to see a whole family climb up on the picnic table when they spotted it. But, it then proceeded to crawl up the table! The structure was hollow steel so I guess the snake was hot and knew that was a cool, dark place to go. The workers never got it out. We just had to move to another table (which we kinda had already done!).
Becky and the kids had to get on the road so at this point, Charlie and I went over to the jumping pillow. But, Charlie being the cautious one he is, wouldn't just crawl up the side by himself. Well, with me having this pregnant belly, I wasn't about to attempt to climb up only to risk falling off trying to get Charlie up so I held him on the side for him to bounce. He wasn't really enjoying it much because he wasn't up with the other kids and it was wearing me out! So...home we went.

Easter weekend 2010
We hid eggs for Charlie Saturday afternoon. He had a ball as did the rest of us watching him.
Couple of other things that I got on video from the weekend was Charlie and Grandpa playing his match card game and Charlie and Granny writing Charlie's name. Both were just too cute to pass up...
the hunt is on...
Last Friday, Charlie got to hunt eggs at school. Well, I don't know if "hunt" is the right word but he put eggs in his basket nonetheless. :) The eggs were all on the playground and the hunt lasted maybe 5 minutes. It was funny to watch them though. Here are a few pics:

trip to the park
Charlie and I took a trip to the park today after my doc appt. And, boy, was he excited about it! We enjoyed some McDonald's for lunch under the pavilion and then on to play! This is really the first time this season that I have taken him to the park. He is a running machine! No more unsteady steps or hesitation. He's a quick little thing and covered that playground well. Up the stairs. Down the slide. Up the rock wall. Down the slide. Up and down the ramp he ran. And ran.
I was in new territory as well in that I didn't have to hover. I could stand back and watch him play. I still kept a close eye on him but I didn't have to be right there with him, helping him. There were alot of other kids there too since it was such a nice day. So you never know what's going to happen. One trip last year, we had a pusher and it seemed that Charlie was his target everytime. Today, it was a little boy who was probably almost 4. Apparently, Charlie was bothering him just by being near him. Charlie picked up the phrase "Stop that." from this kid. Charlie wasn't messing with him. He was just trying to play and talk with him. I even heard the little kid say, "You're being selfish." Guess he must hear that one alot at home. :\ I just laughed. It wasn't a bad experience with the kid. I just wasn't happy about Charlie picking up that phrase (not that he wouldn't have learned it eventually).
It was only 72 degrees but it felt like 90. I guess after being in the cold for so many months, it takes some adjusting. There was a nice breeze though so I couldn't have asked for better weather. We weren't just sweating buckets but the sun was blazing. Charlie was definitely getting hot though. He was pink from head to toe with the majority of that pink being in his cheeks. You'll probably see that in the pics. I did take a few...imagine that!
And, then, the inevitable ending after a trip to the park...a nap!

22 weeks
So, I'm over halfway through this pregnancy. I haven't posted in a while about it. Just had alot of other topics, I guess...mainly Charlie. :) Things are going well so far. Second trimester has treated me better than the first trimester. I've gotten some energy back and my appetite back which is typical. I've begun to feel many kicks and flips. This one stays pretty much in the same spot so I get kicked in the same spot over and over. I had another doc appt. today. This also included another ultrasound. The tech didn't get to see everything she wanted to check due to the baby not turning right. Hence, the second ultrasound. So, it was short and sweet because he was turned just right for her today. I did get some good profile pics due to this as well.
Heart rate was 157. Measurements were taken during the first ultrasound and the baby seems to be right on track. I also got the results of my AFP blood test. Results were negative. This test is used to check for birth defects such as spina bifida and anencephaly. It also checks for chromosonal problems such as Downs syndrome and Edwards syndrome. (Yes, that info came from the internet.)
They haven't started measuring the belly yet but it's definitely growing. I've started getting the "aw, you're so cute" comments so I've gotten to the point that I look pregnant. Daniel has started rubbing the belly too. :) He's been able to feel a few kicks as well but it seems that everytime I try to get him to feel, the baby quits moving. Isn't that how it always works though?
As for the weight issue, since I know some of you are wondering due to previous posts. From my first appointment to the appt today, I've put on 4 lbs. But I gained 5 lbs in the last month. So, yes, I lost a few along the way but have caught up and surpassed my starting weight. Bring on the oreos! Actually, I've been craving more carbs such as breads, pastries, etc. Mainly, cinnamon rolls and powdered doughnuts. Less sweet...more bread. Pizza and pasta make the short list as well.
Daniel and I have been tossing around names. We've pretty much decided on a middle name but are still undecided on the first name. And, yes, I'm not saying much until we decide. Sorry. :)
No progress on a nursery. Charlie's birthday is coming up so I've been full swing everything birthday mode. Plus, we need the bed in that room until after May due to family coming into town to celebrate. So, it will be May and June when that gets done.
Well, I think that about covers it for now. Here are a few pics from my ultrasounds. I've had three so far. All confirmed a boy. So this one isn't shy about it just like Charlie wasn't shy about it. However, I'll save those pics for the baby book. :)

kitchen changes
We recently made some changes to the kitchen which I've been longing for for a while. New floors...

New appliances...
(The old fridge is in the dining room due to new floors. It was a big ugly beige thing.)
I'm a happy girl!
