first trip to the beach

We went to Panama City Beach with Daniel's family last week. It was Charlie's first trip to the beach. He didn't get to spend much time on the beach but we managed to keep him out there for a little while...

Beth's wedding

My cousin Beth got married on Saturday. We made the trek to Warner Robins for the occasion. It was a beautiful wedding with a gorgeous bride.

Charlie took his usual nap during the wedding...

I had a great time visiting with all of my family. This was the first time many of them, including my grandmother, had seen Charlie. She was just glowing when she finally got to see him...

charlie moments

I had the most wonderful experience with Charlie last night. He and I were lying on the couch together. He was lying beside me and was really fussy. I think it was about midnight or so. I had tried everything to soothe him but nothing seemed to work. I was getting pretty frustrated but have learned that it doesn't do much good to get upset. I had read somewhere that infants love to hear their mother's voice so I began to talk constantly to him. No luck. So, I began to sing. I sang any song that popped into my head, "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", "Rock-A-Bye Baby", "Blue Skies and Rainbows", etc. As I sang Charlie began to calm down. He got to where he was just intently watching me as I sang. I just kept on as long as he was calm. I probably sang for 30 minutes or more. He eventually drifted off to sleep. I don't know if I was just so worn out from soothing him or just overwhelmed by my emotions but it hit me that this was my little boy and I'm his mom. I just laid there, staring at him, crying my eyes out.

Big's 85th Birthday

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. As all of you parents know, you just don't have much time. Even when you do, the computer is the last thing you think of. Things are going well. Charlie is growing fast! It's hard for me to tell because I see him every day but clothes are getting too small and he's filling up his car seat much more now. It's been really neat to watch as he learns to hold his head up, etc. I know the little things along the way will be the most fun so I'm trying to relish in each of those moments. Charlie was 5 weeks old as of Friday. It has just flown by. I'm still adjusting to being at home with him all the time but am enjoying it. I'm not bored like I thought I would be. However, I do love to see Daniel walk in the door every afternoon.

We made our first trip to Elba, AL to visit the grandparents this past weekend. It was quite tiring for all of us but we enjoyed seeing everyone. All of Daniel's family threw a birthday party for his grandmother for her 85th birthday. We attended that on Saturday and got to see alot of his family as well as many people from the community. They were all excited to see Charlie. We were sure to get pictures of Charlie and Big. We were able to spend a few hours with her on Friday which we all just thoroughly enjoyed.

I came back later in the week with my sister. She stayed a few days while Daniel was out of town on business. We had a great time together. I'm sure she enjoyed her one on one time with Charlie.
