sneaky

I put Charlie to bed tonight a little late so I thought he would stay in his bed and go right to sleep. Um...no. But it wasn't a bad night. It ended up being a funny story...the little stinker. Daniel and I were on the couch watching TV when I see Charlie in the hallway out of the corner of my eye. He doesn't come all the way to the end of the hall. He comes just enough so that he can see one of us but not our faces so we can't see him (or so he thinks). I got tickled at this because every so often he would lean his head over a little to see my face and realize I was looking at him and immediately lean back. He did this a few times. As he did it again, I leaned my head over so that I could see all of him. Charlie got the biggest grin on his face and then did something that Daniel and I both just laughed out loud at...he just did his cute little wave. The more we laughed the more he grinned and waved and was eventually laughing with us. I tucked him back into bed and didn't hear another peep out of him.

He may not be a baby anymore, but he's still my baby... I relish in these moments as I know they won't last but for a short while.

And, if my husband wonders why I got nothing done today, I have evidence. I mean, who's gonna get up and do stuff around the house when you can sit and cuddle? This is also a pregnant mother's dream...a quiet little boy for a while. :)

Christmas 2009

Yes, I realize it is almost February and I'm just now posting about our Christmas. Better late than never. (I guess.) Anyway, as always, we spent our Christmas holidays in AL with all our family. We left on Wednesday the 23rd and arrived somewhere around 4:00. We visited a little while with Daniel's parents. Shared the news...There was just no clever way to tell them without them knowing before we got it out of our mouths so we decided to do it with a card. They knew them minute we handed them the card though. They were still quite excited!

We then headed over to my parents' house for dinner. Same thing. They knew the minute I handed them the card. My mom was in tears before she even got it open. :)

Christmas Eve is always spent with Daniel's family. We had a funny thing happen as we were unloading presents from the car. Daniel walked in with a Wii that we were asked to purchase and bring home. He comes bouncing in and says, "Mom, here's the Wii." "Wii?" was her reply with a puzzled look on her face. We quickly realized that this was a present for Daniel's mom from his dad. Oops! My FIL never mentioned who it was for so we just assumed it was for our nephew from them. Needless to say, we had a good laugh and got to enjoy the Wii early! We spent the afternoon bowling and playing baseball and tennis on the Wii. Charlie got a kick out of watching bowling. He would get so excited to watch the ball hit the pins.

Daniel's sister and family came that afternoon. We had dinner and then got to opening presents. It's always hard to get the kids to wait their turn so their presents were all open before we got through half of the rest of us. Charlie was even on to helping Papa open his. He really got into opening presents this year. One of the big hits was a school bus tent that we got Charlie for Christmas. Another were the remote control cars that both Branson and Charlie got from Gram and Papa. Here are a few pics from the night:

Christmas Day was spent at my parents' house. We had spent the night there so when we got up, Charlie had spotted a large bag by the tree that hadn't been there before. We don't do Christmas morning presents with Charlie yet and don't plan to do Santa so it this morning wasn't any different than previous ones. But, that big bag had him quite curious and it was all we could do to keep Grandpa from letting Charlie open it! My sister and BIL came that afternoon. We had dinner and then opened presents. Charlie again, really got into opening presents but I guess since he had done opening the night before as well, he got tired of opening presents and just wanted to play with the things he had already gotten. I ended up opening his last few. Then we got to the big bag for Charlie. It was a bike from Grandma and Grandpa. Charlie was ecstatic! He was a little too short to reach the pedals so he was pushed around the house a few times. Here are pics from Christmas at the Halls:

All three of us got some great gifts. The best for us, of course, was money. Maybe we can finally do something in the kitchen...new floor or new appliances perhaps?

We spent the rest of the weekend bouncing back and forth between parents and we were able to visit with Daniel's grandmother a couple of times. Charlie is at the age where he remembers everyone so this makes our trips to her house much better now. He won't love on her quite like she wants but he will sure play and talk with her. He has gotten quite enthralled with a viewmaster that she has. He has played with it on past visits but this trip he figured out that if he would open his eyes, there's actually something in there to look at. Charlie used to close his eyes and put it right up next to them. We put in a Sesame Street slide and he was hooked!

baby news!

Daniel and I are expecting our second child on July 31, 2010. So Charlie gets to be a big brother! He's going to be a great one. We told all the family while we were in AL for Christmas. It didn't come as much of a surprise this time but everyone was excited all the same.

I've been feeling pretty good. I have a day here and there where I'm a little green but it's tolerable. I'm 11 weeks along so only another week and I'll be past the first trimester. I'm just tired and have no motivation to get up and do anything. I'm hoping that will change soon.

I went in Tuesday for a doc visit. He checked for a heartbeat and had no luck with the monitor so they pulled in the ultrasound machine. I got to see the baby instead of just hearing the heartbeat. That was a boost! He/she was just moving and flipping. Doc said from that everything looks good. He said it's probably just too early to easily find a heartbeat. Seeing the baby made the pregnancy much more real to me. I have felt a flutter or two already which surprises me since the baby is still so small. I'll try and keep you posted as we both grow! :)

Btw, I think I got a little burnt out on fb and my blog so I apologize for not posting sooner. I'll try and catch up soon. To be honest, it's been kinda nice to not be obsessive about it and my e-mail. Later...
