making goo...

October 30, 2012 - I mentioned making goo and Charlie was so excited to make some for each of his classmates.  We made purple, blue and orange.  Charlie wasn't too sure about it at first but quickly realized how awesome goo is!  Philip pitched in where he was allowed.  :)  And, of course, his batch had to be purple.
Here's how to make goo...

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz (1 big bottle or 2 small) White glue
  • 1-1/2 cups Water
  • 1 teaspoon Borax

  • To Make:
    1. Pour glue into a bowl.

    2. Fill glue bottle with warm water and shake to get all the glue out of the bottle. Pour into bowl. Add food coloring if desired.

    3. Add 1 teaspoon Borax to 1/2 cup of warm water and stir.

    4. Pour Borax-water solution into bowl and mix. Long strings will immediately form. Continue to mix until smooth.

    5. Store in a zip-top bag or sealed container.

    Fall Festival 2012

October 27, 2012 - Time for this year's Fall Festival post!  Since we are moving soon, I found my replacement to plan Fall Festival and oh, how I loved handing over the reigns!  Daniel and I have organized Fall Festival since 2005.  I was burnt out anyway and the move gave me the excuse I needed to hand it over.  My wonderful replacement was my friend, Tessa, and she did a fabulous job.  She got stressed out pretty quickly but first time jitters will do that to you.

This year, I had a fireman and a scarecrow.  My scarecrow was part of an ensemble as you will see in the pics...
We played many of the games...
Philip's favorite was the bean bag toss...

The bouncy is always a big hit with the kids and mine were no different.  This is where Charlie spent most of his time.   My other two boys got in on the fun too!

    We enjoyed the hayride...
    and food...
     and many, many friends...
Philip with his Sunday School teacher, Ms. Mona.  He loves her!
Charlie ran off and did his own thing so I didn't get any cute pics of him but had Philip with me so I clicked away...
Philip enjoyed wearing Charlie's fireman hat...
We wrapped up the night with Trunk N Treat.  Lots of candy everywhere!
Daniel manned our trunk.  Here's what I came up with...
And...it wouldn't be Halloween if you didn't get to enjoy your stash!

    Pumpkins...

October 26, 2012 - It's that time of year...apples, pumpkins, and so on.  We didn't make our annual trip to Burt's Pumpkin Farm this year since we picked apples.  However, it wouldn't be October or Halloween if we didn't make a trip to a pumpkin farm somewhere.  So, we visited an old favorite in Marietta.  Kathy and Morgan went with us and the boys had such fun filling their wagons with pumpkins...
We then took our pumpkins back to Kathy's to decorate.  Fall Festival is in a few days and we were asked to bring some decorated pumpkins for decoration at the festival...
The finished products...Philip's is, of course, the one with purple on it...
