Happenings with Charlie

Well, there's alot going on with us. Charlie slept his first night in his crib in the nursery on Thursday, July 19th. It was tough on me but I survived. I just didn't sleep well that night. Unfortunately, we went out of town the next day. But, luckily, it didn't throw Charlie off his sleeping through the night routine. I have been putting him to bed around 11:00 pm and he is sleeping until around 7:30 or 8:00 am. The past two nights he has slept from around 10:30 or 11 pm until 9:00 am.

We spent a weekend in Tennessee visiting my grandmothers. They both were so excited to see Charlie. This was the first time my maternal grandmother had seen Charlie so she was tickled pink when we arrived.

I rode back to Elba with my parents and stayed last week there. I stayed a few nights with them and a few nights with my inlaws. I enjoyed my week but was definitely ready to get back home. There's just nothing like your own house and your own bed. We went to Daniel's sister's house Saturday night (July 28) to visit and celebrate his dad's birthday. We had Charlie laying on Branson's bed on his belly and he rolled over for the first time! I haven't been able to get him to do it again but I keep trying.

I had my brother-in-law, Jimmy, to come and take some pictures of Charlie. I'll try and post some of those as soon as I receive them. There were some really good ones and I can't wait to see what Jimmy can do with them!

One last thing for now...

If you're wondering how Khaki is doing with the baby, here's a few pictures to give you an idea...

Charlie's new found entertainment

Since we noticed Charlie starting to see things more clearly, i.e. noticing lights, the ceiling fan, and his animals hanging on his bouncy mobile, we pulled out a gift from one of our showers. It is the Infant Learning Center. It's made by Leap Frog. It plays classical music and the shapes light up to the music. It changes as he grows. He just stares at the lights as it plays. It's amazing to watch him grow and develop. We've really enjoyed him cooing and smiling. He has just begun to laugh, which is just the best sound I have ever heard.

Charlie is also beginning to get strong. We took this picture the other night...

2 month appointment

Today was Charlie's 2 month check-up with the pediatrician. Everything went well. Charlie now weighs 12 pounds 11 ounces. He is 23 3/4" long and his head measures 16 3/4". The pediatrician was surprised that he had put on as much weight as he did. He gained 4 pounds in the last month and a half. She said he's just a healthy, growing, little boy. Dr. McGee charted his measurements and said he is the size of an average three month old. No wonder Charlie is rapidly outgrowing his clothes!

Unfortunately, the 2 month check-up is when all babies get their immunizations. Charlie had five shots and an oral immunization. He screamed. It broke my heart but I knew it had to be done. He has faired well so far. I'm sure he will sleep a good bit tonight and tomorrow since I am suppose to give him Tylenol every 4 hours for the pain from the shots.

Thank you Lord for giving me a healthy, growing boy. He is truly a wonderful example of the work of Your hands. Please guide Daniel and me as we raise him. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Also, who knew your tongue can be the most entertaining thing for a two month old? :) Charlie and I had fun last night sticking our tongues out at each other. He got a big kick out of watching and listening to me make funny noises with my tongue. Oh the weird things we do...

Charlie's eating and sleeping schedule

I've been tracking Charlie's eating and sleep patterns this week. I'm doing this mainly because of his 2 month pediatrician appointment and I know she is going to ask. But I'm doing it also to see how to start adjusting his schedule and how to schedule my time around his nap times. If you're interested, I'm going to publish it, but it's mainly just for my records...

Happy 4th of July!

Charlie turned two months old yesterday. We had an uneventful 4th but it was nice to have Daniel home for the day. I've been working on baby announcements. I know...they're a little late. I decided to make them myself which I have decided was a bad idea with a newborn. They are taking me FOREVER to make. Maybe I'll get them done in time to send his 6 month pictures with them! :) I took pictures of Charlie in his 4th of July outfit that his Gram bought him. Since he has begun to smile, I've enjoyed getting pictures of that beautiful smile...
