Charlie turns 6!

April 26, 2013 - As much as I love decorating for birthday parties, I wasn't sure what shape the house would be in due to the upcoming move.  (I also didn't know if I would have the mental capacity to do it all either.)  Daniel and I decided that it would be best for all involved to have Charlie's 6th birthday party somewhere else.  We decided on Brunswick Zone XL in Kennesaw.  Charlie was so excited have a bowling party!  He had been talking for months about having an Angry Birds theme but at the last minute decided he wanted Batman.  So that's what we did!

Afterwards, there were lots of birthday presents for the birthday boy!

WCCA 5K

April 20, 2013 - Daniel and I completed our first 5K.  Charlie's school was sponsoring a 5K/Fun Run so I decided to take on the challenge of a 5K.  I had always wanted to do one but never had the motivation.  This gave me the push to train and I tried to recruit a few others to run with me.  I was successful in getting Daniel to do it too!

It was tough training but so worth it!  It was a good run that day for both of us and we both finished in less time than we expected.  Finishing was just such a feeling of accomplishment!  Daniel finished first in our age division.

moving day is quickly approaching...

We have cleaned out, cleaned up, packed up, recycled, thrown away and loaded stuff to the point that I'm amazed we still have things left in the house.  It's amazing how much you accumulate!  I've sent two car loads to the consigment sale of the boys' stuff.  Made just over $500!  I've lost count of the trips we taken to the church building to unload donations to the children's home.  And, we'll take a few more!  Numerous boxes/bags of baby clothes have gone to friends of ours at church.  The big load was to AL this past weekend.  There are things that we would like to keep but feel don't need to go to England with us.  My parents were kind enough to give us some space in their outside garage and extra closets in the house to store these items.  My inlaws offered space in their barn as well but we didn't need it.  So we loaded a little UHaul trailer and off we went to AL.

The boys spent last week in AL with grandparents for Spring Break.  When we got to Elba, I was told that Charlie was anxiously waiting on us to arrive but when he saw us pull up with a trailer, that got him even more excited!  He had such fun helping unload it.

Now...on to get the house ready to rent...

Khaki's new home...

Well, our sweet puppy, Khaki, is now at her new home in AL.  We dropped her off on Saturday.  :'(  I will miss her greatly but know that she will be happy with her HUGE backyard and new companion, Dog.  Yes, they named him Dog.  :)  Her new family will take great care of her.  I keep looking for her in her spot by the couch or each time I walk into the kitchen and can see the backyard. 

I have had a tough time with the thought of giving up our pets.  I just feel like I'm abandoning them.  They've never known another home/family.  I just kept thinking on the way to drop Khaki off that I can replace everything that I've given away for this move except her and Lucy, my cat.  I could get another dog but it won't be my sweet Khaki.  That's been really hard for me to handle. 

The last leg of the trip was a struggle to keep from just sobbing.  I managed to hold it together as we dropped her off and all her stuff.  They put her in the back yard to see if she would be ok with their dog.  He tried to mount her a couple of times but when he tried it again, she quickly barked at him and he didn't try that again!  She loved their yard.  I did too, to be honest.  Cat, and her husband, Rob, talked so much about taking care of their dog that I knew they would treat Khaki the same.  That helped me alot.

We said our goodbyes, and as we loaded the car to leave, Khaki was sitting at the fence, barking, yelping and whining.  She knew we were leaving without her.  It broke my heart.  I told Daniel to hurry up with the trailer because I couldn't take much more.  Needless to say, I started sobbing the minute we pulled out of their driveway. 

The one thing that has helped me the most was Daniel's sister saying to me that night at dinner that Cesar Milan, the Dog Whisperer, says that dogs don't hold grudges.

The boys said their goodbye to Khaki last Sunday before they went to AL for the week.  They have taken it in stride, luckily.  I'm thankful that I don't have to console either of them over Khaki being gone.

 So here's my final goodbye to our Khaki.  I will miss you, sweet girl.
