This was our first trip into London since we moved to England (other than the airport, of course) so taking the train and subway were a fun adventure for the boys. Our train station was the Liverpool Street Station.
Down to the subway...over to Westminster...
And this was what we saw when we exited onto the street from the Metro...
Big Ben and all its glory! It was a gray, gloomy day but we didn't care. We took a canal boat tour on the Thames River.
We walked over to Westminster Abbey just to see it and snap a few pictures.
Then we made sure to get our picture made with Big Ben. You can't visit London without getting that!
Up next was the Natural History Museum. We stood in line for about and hour to get in...in the pouring rain. Welcome to England! It was funny to me that all the Americans in our group each had on a raincoat and/or and umbrella. The Brits just had on a hoodie or a sweater and no umbrellas. You'd think they would know better! :) Philip was nice and cozy in his stroller with the rain cover so he slept through the whole ordeal, which I was thankful for. He even slept through part of the museum visit. Charlie got bored pretty fast here so I sent Daniel off to see what exhibits he wanted to see and the boys and I headed into the gift shop for some entertainment. It worked, luckily. Entrance to the museum was free so I didn't fret over not getting to see anything. Museums aren't really my thing...especially natural history. Charlie did enjoy seeing the animal exhibit though. I just marveled at the architecture of the place.
Even though the weather was awful, we sure had a great time with the Chadwick family and the Glott family. We only had one child get lost near Big Ben but after a few panic attacks and lots of praying, we found her. Other than that...a great time! :)
