Last Friday, we went punting on the Cam River. Punting seems to be a popular activity in Cambridge whether you take a guided tour or, the more popular, unguided tour where you do it yourself. If you want to learn more about punting, here is a quick introduction: http://www.scudamores.com/cam/index.php.
We got down to the river where Scudamore's punting is around 5:45 or so. We decided that it would probably be better to eat dinner before we got on the boat for the boys' sake. Nothing worse than two hungry boys stuck somewhere with no food especially when there are other people stuck there with you. So we ate at a little pub nearby.
Our punting adventure began at 7:15 and by then, it was quite chilly. I've learned that no matter how warm it gets during the day (this day it had been up around 70 or so), around 7 pm, it gets cold. We had put the boys in pants but we were all in short sleeves. However, it was worth the trip! We punted down the river through the colleges of Cambridge. Access right now is restricted because it is finals time. It was a beautiful trip! See for yourself...
Charlie keeps asking when we are going to go on the boat again, so I take it he liked it! Can't wait to take visitors punting...who will be here first?
