sick babies...

I've got two sick little boys at my house. Crossing my fingers and praying that Daniel nor I get it. We went to the doc yesterday. That was definitely a challenge with two sick boys, one of which is no longer in a carrier and cannot sit up. We went through the questioning...cough, runny nose, fever, etc.

Charlie was swabbed in his nose for the flu. His chest was clear and so were his ears. Doc said he had a pretty red throat though. The flu test came back negative so they swabbed his throat for strep. Ding. Ding. Ding. We have a winner! Test was positive. What did he win? A round of antibiotics and a few days of no school. Fortunately, this was an antibiotic that Publix provides for free!

Philip was looked over as well since he is suffering from the same symptoms as Charlie. Doc did hear some wheezing when she checked his lungs. They brought in a breathing treatment for Philip to take while in the office. He was hungry at this point so he cried and swirmed through the whole ordeal. Just as soon as they turned on the machine, Charlie began to cry as well. I don't know if it was the big brother in him kicking in and he didn't like us doing that to Philip or if it just scared him in general. Either way, both boys cried the whole 5 minutes. And, since Charlie's strep test came back positive, they swabbed Philip for strep as well. Luckily, his was negative. An inhaler was prescribed for Philip to use at home to help with the wheezing though. He has done well with it so far and doesn't fight me at all to use it.

So other than a trip to the doc and a trip tonight to the grocery store, I have yet to see the outside world since Friday night. (When did I sign up for the role of nurse? Oh, yeah...when I pushed that first youngin' out!) I'm hoping to get the boys out tomorrow night for bible study but I'm not positive on that. Otherwise, we'll see humans again on Friday when I take Charlie to school. The doc cleared him to go back tomorrow but I'm a little hesitant. Prayers for my two boys are welcome...and ones for their nurse!
