Saturday, we took Charlie downtown to Touch-A-Truck. The city of Kennesaw puts on this event each year and I have been awaiting the day that we could take our kids. It always seemed like so much fun for a kid.
Charlie is into anything trucks...fire trucks, ambulances, garbage trucks, school buses, the mailman, etc. so it made sense that we thought he would love this event. He so enjoyed himself...from a distance. He wouldn't get near any of them which, to be honest, surprised me. I thought he would be a little leary but never thought he would flat out refuse. I did manage to get him to play with some of the gears and gadgets on the fire truck but that was it.
The event was well set up and there were trucks of every kind...cement trucks, military vehicles, police cars, ambulances, school buses, the mailman, garbage trucks, bulldozers, backhoes, limos, ice cream trucks, etc. You could climb on and sit in each and every one of them. You could even honk the horn if you wanted to!
Charlie enjoyed seeing all of them. However, his favorite parts were riding the tricycles , playing on the playground, and watching the big construction equipment working. Charlie is obsessed with backhoes and bulldozers. The construction going on was not even part of the event but they were working right there where it was taking place. It seemed to be an attraction for all the kids along the way.
It takes place at the Depot so it's right by the tracks. Any event downtown wouldn't be complete without a few trains going by. Charlie enjoyed this as well. He did at one point get scared because the horn was really loud.
The event was packed but we enjoyed ourselves. I'm hoping Charlie will be climbing all over everything next year.
