Philip turns 2!

July 27th - Yep...you read that right.  Little Philip turned two!

We inaugurated Philip into the birthday tradition of a trip to ToysRUs on your birthday.  I haven't gotten Charlie there every year but most years.  Both boys had such fun running around playing with everything.

We didn't do any cupcakes since Philip's party would be the next day.  He did get to pick out a toy to take home...

It's always amazing to me how as soon as a child turns two, they enter that terrible two stage.  Charlie's was a little delayed and it hit closer to three but it seems like the day Philip turned two, it began!  Tantrums, screaming, hitting, etc.  It all comes with the territory.  Where did my sweet little Philip go?  Oh, yeah...he has an older brother that takes pleasure in aggrivating him.  I'd scream and kick too!  He's learning the "mine" concept and has to have things his way.

Philip has learned many colors and has moved on to learning to count.  He also knows some letters.  His vocabulary is impressive...you just can't always understand what he's saying.  :)  I continue to be amazed at how much he understands at such a young age.  Philip is a little softer at heart than Charlie is.  For example, he carries his feelings on his sleeve more so when you scold him, he really gets his feelings hurt.  He can roll that bottom lip out and just make you feel so bad for getting on to him.  Or he will walk off crying and just bury his face in the couch or on the bed and just cry.

Some of his favorite things are books, books, cars (especially playing with them in Bubba's room), any kind of ball and books.  Did I mention books?  :)  This kid would sit all day with you if you just read him a book.  He has learned to color and draw from his big brother amongst many other things.  His favorite color is purple.  No other color will do...it must be purple!  What color crayon do you want?  Purple.  What color cup do you want?  Purple.  It's all things purple.  He will point out things that are purple everywhere.  He will do the other colors too but it's always purple first.

Philip is still really good to sit and play by himself.  As I mentioned, he loves to play cars in his brother's room.  He also likes to play in Charlie's kitchen.

Philip's favorite foods are hot dogs, mac n cheese, yogurt and blueberries.  He has also taken to a PB&J quite well.  If you ask him what he wants for lunch, his response is "Aht dah"...that's translated as hot dog if you didn't figure it out.  :)  He has to have his chocolate milk each morning when he gets up just as Charlie does.  This is pronounced "Chot mi".  He will order this at restaurants to drink and it's so funny to hear him tell the waiter that.

He is a such sweet boy despite a few meltdowns.  Very loving and much more social than Charlie ever was.  He is a momma's boy but once I'm out sight, he's fine.  However, if I'm still around and he's in a situation he's not comfortable, he will definitely let you know!  This happened when we went for his 2 yr well check-up.  I've never had an issue with Philip in the doc's office.  He would always be a little shy but didn't have an issue with new people coming in and messing with him.  This was not the case this trip!  I've never seen Philip scream bloody murder at the sight of a nurse/doctor.  He was almost at the point of throwing up because he was so worked up.  the doc could barely do her exam.  I had to lay him down in my lap just for her to look at his ears, eyes, etc.  I don't know how they got a weight on him.  I just had to hand him over and walk away.  He would not cooperate in any way.  Kicking, screaming, thrashing...it was all involved in this two year old's tantrum.  With some brute force, we were able to get a height - 36" (85 %).  His weight was 30 lbs. 8 oz. (80%).  Philip continues to follow in his brother's footsteps by having a big head - 20.5" (99%).

I continue to fall in love with this little one more and more each day.  I have been blessed with two incredible and completely different sons.  I can't wait to see what God has in store for both of them.  Happy Birthday my little Philip!  Your daddy adores you and so do I!  Just slack off the terrible two's a little, ok?  :)
