Charlie's team practiced on Mondays from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. They practiced in the hot sunshine...
They practiced in the rain...
And they practiced in the cold...
all to get ready for the big game each Saturday! We all had such a blast watching these little 4 & 5 year olds run around on the field and attempt to play soccer. :) Charlie had a couple of little boys on his team that were pretty good. Needless to say, they stayed in the game a good bit of the time.
Charlie enjoyed each game and practice. He really just ran around on the field not even paying attention where the ball was. He was just following the pack most of the time. By the end of the season though, his coach had him playing a little defense so he did begin to watch the ball.
Most games the kids got to play one half and then had to sit out the other half so their other teammates could play. Charlie did ok with this but got bored pretty quickly just sitting and watching the game.
Charlie did take a liking to pushing during this season. :\ He realized pretty quickly that kids were pushing him so he began pushing back! We had to explain to him that pushing was not part of the game.
Many family members came to watch Charlie play at different times during the season. Gram and Papa made the first game and one more. Grandpa and Grandma made it to a game as well. Laura and Jimmy cheered him on at his last game. Terry, Kathy, and Morgan made it to a game but Kathy was almost a regular and many of his games. This made the time Charlie had to sit and watch a little more bearable. Most of the time, they worked on Charlie's soccer skills...
Philip learned his soccer skills as well this season...
At the end of the season, they had an awards ceremony for all the teams. Charlie loved this part of the ceremony...
It's all he talked about for a week..."Mom, remember when me and my team ran in to that big room?"
But, Charlie did end up with a pretty cool trophy...
All in all...great first season! Way to go #15!
